Englewood (Chicago)

The Dementia Friendly Englewood Task Force’s goal is to raise Dementia awareness. We want to partner with a local organization that provides resources and services for people with dementia, their families, and the care team. We also wish to provide education and recreational activities for community members. The health of seniors impacts the health of the entire community. Our goal is to make our community stronger and healthier and improve the quality of life for all.

The Englewood Dementia Friendly Task Force has been created from an existing community group, which has been working since 2014 on Age-Friendly. The Task Force consists of representatives from many different sectors, including community members, Teamwork Englewood, Access Health Network, Oak Street Health, the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center, and the Department of Family and Support Services.

Dementia Friendly Activities

The Task Force has provided information on Dementia Friendly at the Senior Empowerment event at a local college. This event is hosted by the Dementia Friendly Englewood community lead. Task Force members are working together to create a Memory Café. The local public library is going to start walking groups for community members and people living with dementia. And Dementia Friends talks have been given in the area.
