Make a Difference in the Lives of Those with Dementia
Over 230,000 people live with dementia in the state of Illinois. Dementia often brings feelings of loneliness and isolation. The Dementia Friends program works to help community members understand dementia and the small things they can do to make a difference for people living with dementia.
Become a Dementia Champion to provide Dementia Friends Talks in your Neighborhood
This training will equip you with the knowledge and activities needed to facilitate a Dementia Friends Information Session with community members. An Information Session is a face-to-face or virtual session run by a Dementia Friends Champion. It covers the five key messages everyone should know about dementia through activities and discussion.
We currently have over 100 Dementia Champions in Illinois. Become a Champion by joining an online training session – typically the last Friday of each month at 10:00 am. Email Susan Frick for information.
