This is a free opportunity to learn more about a form of FTD with behavior-based symptoms that are often confused with other disorders and is often misdiagnosed as a result.
Behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD) is the most common subtype of FTD, yet it remains poorly understood and challenging to diagnose due to its symptoms overlapping with other FTD subtypes, dementias, and disorders.

This AFTD on-demand video offers guidance on distinguishing bvFTD to ensure patients receive accurate and timely diagnoses. It presents practical strategies for managing and treating bvFTD while also exploring the genetic factors contributing to FTD and highlights the promise of current clinical trials in advancing scientific breakthroughs across the FTD spectrum.

This recorded session is available anytime, on any device, and offers CME/CEC credit through Rush University.

Learning Objectives: Describe three symptoms common to bvFTD that can differentiate it from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias Recognize the diagnostic criteria for possible and probable bvFTD List two treatment approaches that can be effective with bvFTD symptoms Identify three primary genes underlying FTD and understand why healthcare providers should consider genetic counseling for their patients with an FTD diagnosis

Featured Speakers: Howard Rosen, MD – UCSF Memory and Aging Center Simon Ducharme, MD – Douglas Mental Health University Institute; Montreal Neurological Institute Peter Ljubenkov, MD – UCSF Memory and Aging Center Kim Jenny, MS, LCGC – Licensed Genetic Counselor, AFTDRegister now at no cost through Rush University’s online education platform to access the course and claim your continuing education credit.
