Tips for Caregivers: Caring for Yourself

It’s rewarding to care for someone, but it can also be overwhelming! Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia takes time and effort. It can be lonely and frustrating, so it’s important to take care of yourself and ask for help when you need it. Start a self-care routine by:

  • Spending time with friends
  • Exercising as often as you can
  • Joining a support group, online or in person
  • Staying involved in your hobbies
  • Talking to a mental health professional about stress or anxiety
