Ways to Build Meaningful Connections With a Person with Alzheimer’s disease

It’s important to spend meaningful time with a family member or friend who has Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Participating in activities you both enjoy can help improve their quality of life and manage behavior changes that may come with the disease, while also helping to grow and strengthen your connection. These are a few activities you can do together at home:

  • Make a memory book — look through old pictures together and create a scrapbook.
  • Write cards to other family members and friends.
  • Listen to their favorite music or watch their favorite TV show or movie.
