Take Care of Your Heart!

You probably know that heart health is important as you grow older. But did you know that doing 30 minutes of physical activity on most or all days of the week can help keep your heart healthy? There are many other ways that you can help take care of your heart. You can:

  • Follow a heart-healthy diet—Fruits, vegetables, and foods high in fiber, like those made from whole grains, are part of a heart-healthy diet.
  • Keep a healthy weight—Maintaining a healthy weight includes balancing the calories you eat and drink with those you burn.
  • Manage stress—Managing your stress levels will improve your physical and emotional health.

If your doctor has diagnosed you with heart disease, you can still benefit from exercise and other heart-healthy lifestyle changes. Read about other ways that you can keep your heart healthy from the National Institute on Aging.
