What is Dementia?

Although dementia is often associated with getting older, it is not a normal part of aging. Dementia is caused by changes in the brain that affect memory, thinking, and behavior. While most people are familiar with Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia also exist.

Understanding the different types of dementia can help a person with the disease learn about treatment and how to better prepare for the future.
