Tinley Park

Dementia Friendly Tinley Park is committed to educating their local community members about dementia through education opportunities and community events. The action team hosts events with guest speakers that are experts in the field to educate participants on dementia. Additionally, the action team creates online content and posts on a weekly basis to inform the community of the signs of dementia and connects them to local resources. The Tinley Park local library hosts Memory Cafe events for people living with dementia and their care partners to come together and foster meaningful connection with one another.

Dementia Friendly Activities

The Dementia Friendly Community Task Force has already had several achievements. They launched a Memory Café in January of 2024 in the Tinley Park Public Library.  They trained 15 businesses, along with local government and park district employees. They developed a Dementia Friendly Tinley Park webpage. There are plans to continue community trainings, focusing on additional businesses and first responders.

They main goals for Dementia Friendly Tinley Park is to educate the community about dementia, connect people with the disease and their caregivers to resources, and provide social networking events for people living with the disease and their caregivers to help reduce isolation.
