Hoffman Estates

The Dementia Friendly Task Force represents a broad range of community members. The key members of the Task Force are comprised of people from local government, the Alzheimer’s Association, dementia specialists, clinicians, hospital, community organizations, volunteers, community members, and people living with dementia and caregivers. More members are being added to the task force as their initiative grows. The task force members are becoming Dementia Friends and there are plans to have several members of the task force become a Dementia Champion.

They have already developed a website page with dementia resources and information on Dementia Friendly activities. They have provided brain health information through social media, community newsletter, and more focused information during Alzheimer’s Awareness month.

The Task Force has plans to provide training through a program called Learning About Your Aging Brain sessions which will be provided for community members, families, and caregivers. They will also offer interactive brain health programs for community members. There are plans to offer multiple programs for emotional and social well-being, which include various support groups, a senior educational luncheon, a resource fair, and a dance movement and memory program at the park district.
