The Dementia Friendly Task Force represents a broad range of community members. The key members of the Task Force represent community-based aging services, healthcare and academic institutions, cultural institutions, the public library, local government, person living with dementia, caregivers, community members and the Area Agency on Aging. They have plans to reach out to more individuals within the neighborhood to be part of the effort.
Within the community, they already offer memory cafes and support groups and through Dementia Friendly Lincoln Park they plan to increase the number of programs and frequency. The Lincoln Park Library is active on the task force and will be a central location for the Dementia Friendly efforts. Members of the task force have become a Dementia Champion, and in-person talks have been given in the community. The task force members are becoming a Dementia Friend and there are plans to have them also become a Champion.
The Village Chicago will be the Champion organization for Dementia Friendly Lincoln Park. With a mission ‘to inspire connection, purpose, and well-being for older adults and their families through the power of community’, The Village Chicago will be able to draw from their networks to achieve the goals for Dementia Friendly. They already have plans for a comprehensive assessment, much of which is already complete, ways to obtaining funding and how they will evaluate services.
