The Dementia Friendly Princeton Action Team consisted of over 20 members and is made up of representatives from a wide cross section of sectors. The Team includes people from the ministry, law enforcement, aging organizations, service/non-profit organizations, caregivers, the Alzheimer’s Association, and local business. The Bureau County Senior Center has been the lead on this effort.
Members of the Action Team have met monthly to work on the application and plan to continue this meeting schedule to work on initial goals. They participated in a Dementia Friends presentation and some have been trained as Dementia Champions. They have provided a couple Dementia Friends presentations and have provided material on dementia and the Dementia Friendly Initiative at their local health fair and county fair.
Through assessing the needs of their community, they plan to create and provide caregiver support kits through a variety of organizations. They will provide sector training for interested organizations. The local law enforcement will provide bracelets for people at risk for wandering. And, caregiver support programs will be offered. They plan to market the program by creating a Facebook page and having material in the local paper and theater.
