Effingham

The Dementia Friendly Effingham Task Force is made up of representatives from a cross section of different sectors. The Task Force includes caregivers, representatives from the local library, chamber of commerce, the local hospital, and businesses. The local Area Agency on Aging have been the lead on this effort.

A Village Proclamation has already been adopted by the local government of Effingham and signed by the mayor. This proclamation states the efforts of the Dementia Friendly Task Force and encourages the residents of Effingham to learn about dementia.

Members of the Task Force have been trained as Dementia Champions and have offered Dementia Friends talks for many groups throughout the city. Information on Dementia Friendly efforts has been included in the welcome packet from the Chamber. Information about Dementia Friendly trainings has been included on the local radio and newspaper. Window decals have been shared with organizations which have gone through the training.
