Taking things Hard: When dementia symptoms and challenging behaviors arise for the family caregiver/care partners.
This is a 1.5 hr., FREE CEU event that meets the dementia CEU requirement and is open to social workers, as well as all healthcare, residential living, and medical professionals (RN/MD/CNAs etc.) who especially interact with dementia care. Also invited are family caregivers and care partners for those living with dementia and/or going through brain changes. In order to fully cover this topic with utmost safety and dignity, this space is best suited without the person with dementia/impairment in attendance. No registration is required prior to the event.
What: A live interactive conversation with Dasha Kiper, author of the beloved book Travelers to Unimaginable Lands, which speaks to the hearts and minds of those involved in dementia care.
Summary: Even when we know someone has Dementia, it’s so challenging not to feel pain, hurt, anger, confusion, impatience, and sometimes even react unkindly in return. Explore the brain science behind these reactions, and let’s find out why our struggle is not wrong but part of our biological make-up and therefore profoundly human. Enjoy this opportunity to interact with Dasha in conversation, and she will include an open Q&A for us all!
