What is Frontotemporal Dementia?

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and other frontotemporal disorders are rare and tend to occur at a younger age than other dementias. FTD and related disorders gradually damage the brain’s frontal and temporal lobes. This damage causes changes in a person’s behavior, movement, language, and emotions. There are three main types of frontotemporal disorders, including behavioral variant FTD, FTD-related movement disorders, and primary progressive aphasia. There is currently no cure for FTD, but there may be ways to manage the symptoms.
