Check out the latest in aging advances, research, and events from NIA:
- Smartphone clip attachment may help some people self-monitor blood pressure — NIA-funded researchers developed a low-cost, universal attachment that has the potential to help people monitor their blood pressure using their fingertip.
- Aging in disadvantaged neighborhoods may worsen age-related cognitive problems, especially among Mexican Americans — A recent NIA-funded study found that aging in a more disadvantaged area is linked to poorer performance on tests measuring memory, language, attention, processing speed, and executive function, particularly among Mexican Americans.
- Pandemic loan program linked to increased staff hours in U.S. nursing homes — Researchers funded by NIA gathered data on nursing homes that received a Paycheck Protection Program loan during COVID-19 and found that they increased staffing hours for certified nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses.
